Frequently Asked Questions

A passport is needed when traveling outside of the United States and territories. Most countries require your passport be valid for 6 months after your return date. Some countries will require a Visa in addition to your passport.

Starting in 2021, Americans and travelers from other visa-free countries will have to take an extra step when visiting more than two dozen countries in Europe.

The European Union announced last year that before travel, visitors from all visa-free countries, including the United States, will need to complete an online application and pay a small fee using the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) designed “to strengthen security checks on those persons who travel visa-free to the EU,” according to a fact sheet from the European Commission. It applies to people traveling to Europe’s Schengen Zone, an area comprising 26 countries, including France, Germany and Spain, but not Britain.

U.S. citizens with a valid U.S. passport can visit Schengen countries and stay for up to 90 days without a visa, according to the State Department.

TSA PreCheck is a U.S. government program that allows travelers deemed low risk by the Transportation Security Administration(TSA) to pass through an expedited PreCheck security screening at certain U.S. airports.

Global Entry is a program run by the US Govt. that allows fast entry into the country at all airports in the United States. When you arrive at the airport, instead of heading for the queues, you head for the Global Entry kiosk where you present either your passport of US resident card, scan your fingertips for verification, and you’re on your way. You’ll be issued with a transaction receipt and directed to the correct baggage reclaim. Global Entry travelers qualify for TSA PreCheck as a perk of their Global Entry status.

Travel insurance can minimize the considerable financial risks of traveling: accidents, illness, missed flights, canceled tours, lost baggage, theft, terrorism, travel-company bankruptcies, emergency evacuation, and getting you home in an emergency should arise. Each traveler's potential loss varies, depending on how much of your trip is prepaid, the refundability of the air ticket you purchased, your state of health, the value of your luggage, where you're traveling, the financial health of your tour company and airline, and what coverage you already have (through your medical insurance, homeowners or renter’s insurance, and/or credit card). What are the chances you'll need it? How willing are you to take risks? How much is peace of mind worth to you? Take these considerations into account, understand your options, and make an informed decisions for your trip.

Most cruise lines suggest $10 - $12 per day per passenger. You can select the option to have the tips prepaid and added at the time you book your trip or at the end of your cruise.

Check with your credit card company to see if they charge currency exchange fees or transaction fees when out of the United States. It is always a good idea to advise your credit card company when you’re traveling so that they will be aware of your ‘out of the norm’ activities.
